Course Title: How to Create a Safety Awards Program that Lasts

Course Type: Webinars

Objective: This webinar focuses on the components of an effective safety awards program in a safety management system (SMS). This webinar provides ideas and suggestions to promote new or existing safety awards programs. In addition, it covers personnel roles and responsibilities and strategies to evaluate the program’s effectiveness.

Pre-Requisites: This presentation is beneficial to personnel wanting to learn more about developing new or improving existing safety awards programs. Attendees should have an intermediate understanding of safety awards programs prior to this webinar. Personnel gaining the most benefit from this presentation may include: • Leadership of all levels (e.g., supervisors, managers, Command staff) • SMS points-of-contact (POC) • Safety staff

Benjamin H. Lacy, MA, MPM DoD SMCX/EVC Manager, ESOH Mr. Benjamin Lacy has 16 years of experience leading and managing ground/aviation safety, environmental, occupational health, and industrial hygiene. He has provided SMS solutions to both public and private industry clients and has filled director-level roles managing ESOH activities for an organization of more than 10,000 employees.

Alyssa Gormish

DoD SMCX/CTC

Safety and Environmental Professional

Ms. Gormish has been with CTC for over 10 years, 7 of which have been with the DoD SMCX. During this time she supported projects involving storm water drainage and pollution prevention plans, Net Zero, heavy metal removal, unexploded ordinance, incremental sampling, among others. With the DoD SMCX, she primarily supports the Army MEDCOM and Corps of Engineers.

 

Richard Paul Savage, SMS, CMT

DoD SMCX/CTC

Principal Safety Professional

Mr. Savage has served as a Principal Safety Professional for the DoD SMCX for the past 12 years, working primarily with Army and Navy sites. Prior to the DoD SMCX, he spent 18 years as the Safety Lead at United Space Alliance in Houston, TX.

 

Dennis J. Ritko Jr., SMS, CPG

DoD SMCX/CTC

Principal ESOH Professional

Mr. Ritko has been a part of the DoD SMCX since 2006 worked with all DoD Services through the, and over the last few years, has been working closely with the Army and with their development of the Army Safety and Occupational Health Management System. Prior to his tenure with the DoD SMCX, Mr. Ritko worked in private industry environmental, safety, and occupational health (ESOH) consulting, where he had worked in a wide array of ESOH subject matter disciplines. 

 

James Bonkowske, CHSP, CHCM, CSHO Moncrief Army Health Clinic Safety Manager Mr. Bonkowske has 16 years of SOH experience within the Federal Government, serving as Safety Manager of several hospitals and health clinics within the Army Medical Command, as well as an Industrial Hygiene Technician.
