Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) 18001, Occupational Health and Safety Management was an official British Standard for setting the minimum requirements for occupational health and safety management best practices. British Standards Institution (BSI) cancelled OSHAS 18001 in March 2018 following the publication of ISO 45001, and adopting it as BS ISO 45001.
Organizations currently certified as OHSAS 18001 and wishing to maintain their recognized certification can choose to migrate to ISO 45001 by March 2021, as part of a 3-year transition period.
OHSAS 18001 not only motivated staff, it also engaged customers and suppliers who took take occupational health and safety management seriously identify and locate businesses with similar SMS views.
